It has standardized & reduced the time it takes to establish & secure network connectivity from to all cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google, Oracle). It has reduced the complexity, knowledge gaps, hardware constraints, and overall time to deploy we faced before partnering with Alkira.
What I value most with Alkira is the flexibility and the breadth of the platform, which has been significant improvement over managing our large and complex cloud setup solely with native services. Alkira offers multiple ways to achieve connectivity goals with route manipulations, segmentations and support for a range of third-part integrations for SD-WAN, firewalling, logging and monitoring. Another big item to point out is their API supportability which makes large scale deployments much more efficient and helps massively with automation. Beyond the technology, their services and support teams are proactive and energetic, making it easy to navigate both deployment and ongoing operations.
Ease of standup/deployment. Not having to manage instances under the hood and it being provided aaS (as-a-Service) to be able to integrate third-party tooling (security NVA's, LB's, DDI, etc.) to help simplify cloud deployments without losing security and on-premises familiarity tooling.
The cost. Our leadership team views this as an expensive solution and has asked us to justify this expense more than once. Predicting and planning the amount of CXP bandwidth required, and the associated costs, has been difficult.
The only area that could be improved is the inbuilt monitoring and visibility tools. While functional, they aren't as intuitive. Making them easier to interpret would help customers gain insights more quickly without relying heavily on external integrations.
Ecosystem integration - this is fairly broad today and the Alkira product team is great about product integrations and getting them into the pipeline for production release, but primarily F5 for LB and Infoblox for DDI which are the industry leaders, but some other third party integrations would be nice to help position Alkira as a partner to others. The visibility and troubleshooting is always being improved upon and is getting more on par with competitors in the space.
