What is Alkira Network Infrastructure as-a-Service?

Alkira offers a network infrastructure as a service platform, enabling enterprises to build and manage global networks through a cloud-delivered model. It provides on-demand connectivity between users, sites, data centers, and multiple cloud environments without requiring physical infrastructure. Networks are designed on a digital canvas and deployed with a single click. The platform uses globally interconnected Cloud Exchange Points (CXPs) as virtual points of presence with full routing and integrated network services. Alkira supports AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and on-premises environments, offering unified security policy enforcement, end-to-end segmentation, and comprehensive visibility. Customers can integrate existing SD-WAN solutions, firewalls from Palo Alto Networks and Fortinet, and other security services. The solution addresses multi-cloud networking, security consolidation, global backbone connectivity, business partner integration, and zero-trust network access.

Alkira Network Infrastructure as-a-Service Pricing

Alkira provides flexible, consumption-based pricing with pay-as-you-go and subscription options. Customers pay for actual usage (bandwidth, connections, services), eliminating upfront capital expenditures. Pricing scales elastically, and subscription plans offer discounted rates for committed terms. Billing is transparent, with visibility into network spending and chargeback capabilities.

It has been a very positive experience working with Alkira. On the product side, the UI is very intuitive and pretty much "just works", as was advertised. We have largely been able to self-manage our environment with little frustration or vendor assistance. The dedicated account team is very responsive and always addresses our questions in a timely manner. They bring a tremendous amount of expertise to the table.

My overall experience with Alkira has been great! The platform is robust and gives us the confidence to easily manage our complex cloud footprint. I would go out to say that Alkira reduced the complexity of the environment in multiple folds and made multi-cloud management much more easier and operational. The professional services and the account teams have been outstanding, highly responsive and present every step of the way during and after our deployment. I also value how the product team listens to customers and quickly incorporates feedback into the roadmap.

Performance of Alkira Network Infrastructure as-a-Service Across Market Features

Alkira Network Infrastructure as-a-Service Likes & Dislikes

Like

Ease of use, time savings, and customer service. Account reps and service desk always respond in a timely fashion and are very helpful

Like

Cloud access and control makes the services easy to manage

Like

It has standardized & reduced the time it takes to establish & secure network connectivity from to all cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google, Oracle). It has reduced the complexity, knowledge gaps, hardware constraints, and overall time to deploy we faced before partnering with Alkira.

Dislike

Only issue that i have had with Alkira was some difficulty in setting up SSO , other than that all usage has been exceptional

Dislike

Some service functions, like IPsec connector configuration, don't allow for customizing some of the features (like the local tunnel IP addresses) without having advanced configuration enabled on the backend or having the settings modified by support. It isn't a showstopper, but it is a little annoying when trying to negotiate an IPSec tunnel with vendors on other providers with similar restrictions.

Dislike

The cost. Our leadership team views this as an expensive solution and has asked us to justify this expense more than once. Predicting and planning the amount of CXP bandwidth required, and the associated costs, has been difficult.
