Fast deployment and user-friendly build, but manual workflows need improvement

In our search for a data quality platform we not only considered the functional capabilities of the platform but also whether our business teams could learn to build on their own (vs. always relying on specialist resources) and how the vendor conducted themselves. Are they easy to do business with? Do we see them as a partner going forward? In both respects, Ataccama was far ahead of the other finalist in our search. We are early into our implementation and have not focused on data lineage and data cataloging functionality much at this stage so, aside from their inclusion in the platform, I cannot comment on them yet.

Database Integration: Adding new database connections to Ataccama has been quite seamless and has allowed us to build more advanced data validations early in our implementation. User Friendly: While there is some training required, our users have been able to get up to speed and build their own validations. They're sticking to more straightforward logic but this is a win because many of the checks teams want to run are not that complex, they just lacked a platform on which to build them before was brought in Ataccama. The fact that we don't need to continuously maintain a team of specialist developers to build out our validation inventory is a huge help. Time to Market: The time it takes to build and deploy, or modify an existing validation is quite fast. The slowest part of our development cycle is working out the logic within our own complex data structures. Once that is done, the build out in Ataccama is quick.
