Amazon Web Services (AWS), established in 2006, is focused on providing essential infrastructure services to businesses globally in the form of cloud computing. The key advantage offered through cloud computing, particularly via AWS, is its capacity to shift fixed infrastructure expenses into flexible costs. - Increase scalability - Provides cost efficient option - Integrate Easily
This product integrates well with existing Linux environments, as well as it allows to save any code remotely and eventually to the server. In addition, AWS Cloud9 allows you to write and debug your code at any given time. I could not be happier with the accessibility it provides to the analyst.
Out of all the features, these 3 have been really helpful features :- 1. Comprehensive IDE Tools:- It supports almost all popular languages and has helpful features like syntax highlighting, code completion and multiple cursors for a wide array of languages. The terminal also provides shell access to the underlying infrastructure enabling CLI access. The debugging feature has also been very helpful in troubleshooting. 2. Cloud Based:- With Workspace hosted on AWS, it becomes easy to connect to with any device and can be shared. It's also really helpful in setting up the environment fast, hence no more setup pains. 3. Serverless Deployment:- It really simplifies the working and deployment of AWS services like lambda which can be tested on the fly and without leaving the environment. Hence no extra set of permissions or sharing of keys to access AWS services, its inside the Cloud so that helps with overall security as well.
- High in price - Complex to use - Requires concentration
There is nothing to dislike about this product. It works well with any programming language, even when the code uploaded needs verification.
AWS Cloud9 has been a blessing, however there are certain areas where it can improve such as :- 1. Internet Dependency :- Since its hosted on cloud so sometimes in case of network outages or slow internet, work really gets hampered or there is slowness in the execution. This feature is like a dual sword and it's good to have hosted on the internet but at the same time the risk and security do come along. 2. Potential for unexpected Cost:- Now this has been the fear right from the start. Since there are no restrictions around services, there is a high possibility that rookie /new developers can overload the resources and go beyond the budgets, hence its also recommended to always set budgets and alarms configured before use. 3. Community Support:- Since this tool is still new to the market, community support and docs are very limited. Although AWS puts in the effort to release official documentation and videos around it, few are sometimes tough to troubleshoot and or have not been reported till now.
