BCG’s Structured Vendor Due Diligence Highlights Strengths and Reveals Some Gaps

Working with BCG on vendor due diligence felt like bringing in a heavyweight partner, as they pushed us to think harder about what we were really buying and why. The process was structured, fast-paced and clearly ddesigned for large scale transactions, so we got a lot of insight in a compressed timeline. From a security and risk management standpoint, the output was rigorous enough to stand up in front of the board, but it also left some gaps that we had to fill with our own internal checks.

What stood out most was how BCG framed everything from the buyer's perspective, not just the seller's. They did a good job mapping the vendor's capabilities, financials and operational model into clear risk and upside buckets, which made it easier to translate their findings into our own risk register language. Their analytical toolkit and access to broader industry benchmarks gave us confidence that we were not just looking at one-off anecdotes but at patterns across similar deals. From a cyber risk angle, the way they layered in strategic, operational and cultural due diligence meant we could spot red flags around governance, third party dependencies and growth assumptions that might otherwise have been buried in pure financial analysis.
