Product Information on CipherTrust Tokenization

Updated 13th October 2025

What is CipherTrust Tokenization?

CipherTrust Tokenization is a software developed to enable organizations to protect sensitive data by substituting original data with non-sensitive tokens while preserving data format and length. The software provides dynamic and static tokenization methods, allowing flexible implementation across various fields such as payment processing and compliance with regulatory standards. It integrates with databases and applications and supports policy-based data access controls. The software addresses business needs for reducing risk of data exposure and simplifying compliance processes by minimizing the scope of sensitive data handled in enterprise environments. CipherTrust Tokenization aims to support privacy requirements and facilitates secure data handling without impacting business operations or workflows.

CipherTrust Tokenization Pricing

CipherTrust Tokenization software utilizes a subscription-based pricing model that is structured according to the number of protected data elements and deployment size. The software offers various license tiers with pricing scaling based on usage requirements and add-on features, including support and maintenance plans, to address different organizational needs for data security and regulatory compliance.

“Enterprise grade tokenization for companies that are heavy on compliance.”

5.0
Mar 3, 2026
The experience has been positive, it fits well with our non-data-storage operating model, and it has helped us formalize controls we previously lacked. The main challenges came from us being multi-tenant. We selected this product to standardize tokenization across our four international sites and reduce operational burden.

Cipher Trust Tokenization Simplifies PCI Scope But Presents Learning Curve Challenges

    4.0
    Mar 24, 2026
We've been running Cipher Trust tokenization for about a year now, primarily to reduce PCI DSS scope and protect PII across our envs. Overall, it does what it promises once it's properly set up. The vaultless approach in particular works well for our high-throughput workloads because it eliminates the single point of failure you'd otherwise have with a traditional token vault

Reviewer Insights for: CipherTrust Tokenization
Performance of CipherTrust Tokenization Across Market Features

CipherTrust Tokenization Likes & Dislikes

Like

Alignment with enterprise grade compliance requirements, primarily for PCI DSS and clear logging and audit capabilities for external assessments. Another item is it allows us to consistently operate across multiple-site operations without requiring us to redesign client workflows, so it is very scalable for our use case. And centralized key management too.

Like

The tool features a robust engine that handles a wide range of tokenization scenarios.

Like

The flexibility between vaulted and vaultless tokenization is genuinely useful, being able to choose based on the use case rather than being locked into one model makes architectural decision easier.

Dislike

The documentation assumes a mature internal security engineering standpoint, so that made our learning curve steeper. This was an us problem not a product problem though. Integration with third party client applications was not always straightforward, so we had to do some tailoring, but again this is more of a maturity topic for our organization.

Dislike

The tool demands a high operational cost, and another point that leaves something to be desired is its performance for tokenizing large databases and some types of databases.

Dislike

the learning curve is steep, and the documentation sometimes assumes a level of familiarity with the platform that new users simply won't have.
