Physical Architecture Clarity Noted Amid Concerns Over Cisco ACI Logical Design Complexity

    4.0
    Nov 11, 2025
Cisco ACI is working great for us , and has made our DC management and operations simpler. However the ACI architecture and solution itself could be more simple and more user-friendly in some respect. Also, Dashboard orchestrator that we use it with, is not fully integrated.

Performance of Cisco ACI Across Market Features

Cisco ACI Likes & Dislikes

Like

- Stability - Single controller (cluster) to manage the entire fabric - Data model and API

Like

Ability to troubleshooting packet flow thoughout fabric, expan subnets though multiple DCs without headache about L2 broadcast

Like

I like the central management pane and the clearly defined physical architecture, as well as the automation options. However, it remains robust and reliable.

Dislike

- Unexpected bugs after upgrades - Nexus-as-code came way too late - Initial learning curve due to the ACI concepts

Dislike

Very complex to configure a simple task. Experience about instability with L2 bugs (misconfiguration by Advance Services cause subnets flapping but TAC could not resolve it for 3 weeks)

Dislike

Logical architecture and design complexity. Software bugs and limitations apply.
