Cursor

I like the Agentic offering from Cursor. We have tried it for Google workspace development like extensions, add-ons and web applications. Cursor excels at all of those.

- It understands my codebase - It gets frequent updates - It has free model usage sometimes

What I liked most was how thoroughly cursor generated code and comments while working through DBT models, sources and macros. It was especially helpful when defining staging models, writing SQL transformations and documentation logic, making the pipeline easier to understand and maintain. The depth of explanation reduced ambiguity during set up and review.

I am yet to find dislikes here but sometimes some models are much inferior resulting in too much time being spent with back and forth prompting and guiding the model to understand the full context of our project requirement.

- Its marketplace has limited extensions - It is expensive - it hogs resources

Only downside was that Cursor of an exposed too much internal reasoning and step-by-step, thinking even when working on simple DBT model changes or configuration updates. While this transparency can be useful in complex scenarios, it added unnecessary noise when the goal was just to create or modify code quickly. This level of detail would be more effective if shown only when explicitly requested.
