What is CyPerf?

Keysight CyPerf is a cloud-native, software-based network application and security testing solution that validates performance and security across distributed, hybrid, and cloud environments, including AI front-end networks and LLM inference paths. CyPerf simulates real users, applications, and attackers using lightweight agents to generate realistic traffic and threats for benchmarking AI firewalls, SASE, SD-WAN, CDN, WAF, proxies, ZTNA, and VPN infrastructure. The solution supports end-to-end validation of AI front-end architectures by measuring latency, throughput, concurrency, and security efficacy across north-south and east-west traffic flows, including load balancers, security gateways, and inference endpoints. CyPerf runs on public and private clouds, virtual machines, containers, and specialized Keysight APS-100/400GE hardware, enabling performance and security testing from lab environments to geographically distributed production networks.

It provide testing agents in containers. It is highly scalable, handling multiple users at same time. It has built in feature to find cause of the problems

The customer service representative assigned to us was exceptional. They have been helpful in not only addressing any problem but also helped us in understanding the root cause of the issue as well.

Ease of use and comprehensive test traffic profiles.

Cost is higher than similar type of tools available in market. There may be network issue while handling large number of request at same time. CDN service need to improve.

1. Sometimes we faced an issue where the agents disappear in the middle of the test. 2. When we run diagnostics to understand the root cause of the problem, the diagnostics takes a lot of time. 3. The product has a limited widely used applications which had impacted our testing.

Nothing to dislike.

We used Keysight CyPerf for performance testing on AWS Cloud. The deployment was fairly easy as CyPerf provides AWS Cloud Formation Templates. The deployment took around 10-15 minutes. The CyPerf application was accessible via a web portal and it was very responsive and user friendly. I liked the various kind of pre-built templates for testing various scenarios. One of the best features of CyPerf was the Attack and Application Mix profiles where we could mix various Attack Profiles alongside common Application profiles, e.g. Application specific Attack Strikes mixed with general Application traffic mix. It also provides a packet capture (PCAP) file for the simulated traffic which was very helpful for validation and it also provides a very detailed test report. We were also able to setup various profiles for the test by setting up bandwidth threshold, application traffic weights, TLS profiles, etc. which we found very useful in our performance test use cases. The one thing we were unable to perform were some custom Attack Scenarios against custom Network Protocols as the product only supported HTTP/S, SMTP and FTP traffic. Overall, I found the product to be very easy to deploy and use.
