Overview

Product Information on Elastic Load Balancing

Updated 13th October 2025

What is Elastic Load Balancing?

Elastic Load Balancing is a software provided by Amazon Web Services that automatically distributes incoming application traffic across multiple targets, such as Amazon EC2 instances, containers, and IP addresses, within a single or multiple availability zones. The software enables applications to achieve high availability and fault tolerance by routing requests based on configurable algorithms and health check mechanisms. Elastic Load Balancing supports handling varying traffic loads, integrates with security features such as SSL termination and authentication, and provides detailed visibility into traffic patterns through monitoring and logging capabilities. It addresses the challenge of maintaining application reliability and scalability by dynamically adjusting to traffic demands and endpoint health.

Elastic Load Balancing Pricing

Elastic Load Balancing is a service that uses a pay-as-you-go pricing model based on the number of hours or partial hours the service is running, the amount of data processed, and the type of load balancer selected. Pricing may vary depending on features such as application or network load balancing and additional capabilities configured within the service.

We have been using AWS Elastic load balancing for manage service platform hosted in AWS EC2. We have hosted the CloudFX manage service platform which includes SelectFX, SinglePaneFX and KeyCloak for SSO in AWS EC2 servers. All CloudFX manage service platform application console configured to access through AWS Elastic load balancer and configured traffic management through load balancer. Also verifying application availability through load balancer. Elastic load balancer acting as network bridge for applications to access over internet. As of now, we have configured rule for port-to-port mapping to access all 3 application consoles using 443 over internet as all 3 CloudFX application running on different port locally. Overall, AWS Elastic Load Balancer is mature, dependable and scalable load balancing platform.
