Knowledgeable Staff: No matter which team you work with--Support, Services, Customer Success, or Product--everyone demonstrates deep expertise in their field and a genuine curiosity to keep learning and improving Product Flexibility: As an engineer-first platform, Fastly provides the flexibility needed to build unique configurations, develop custom tooling, and leverage APIs for nearly any use case. This allows our team to create tailored solutions for a diverse set of customers. Reliability and Speed: Fastly delivers some of the fastest Time to First Byte (TTFB) in the industry, extremely fast resource purging, and exceptional uptime. We run complex Edge Compute services for our customers and consistently see success rates of 99.999%.
The support team is very responsive and easy to work with. The web portal is definitely useful and covers most of what I need. The debugging features are nice and the product is very customizable to fit our needs.
Exceptional Performance: Fastly's edge network consistently delivers low latency, high throughput performance irrespective of the geographical location. Real-time Control: Changes such as service configuration or cache purging can be deployed globally within seconds. Developer Friendly Platform: Powerful VCL and snippets to help us address day-to-day challenges without over-engineering. Advanced Security Features: Fastly provides web application firewall (WAF), Bot Protection, and DDoS mitigation to their edge services. This reduces infrastructure complexity and allows for proactive response to threats. Great Support: Fastly's team is known for being responsive, technically strong, and proactive with recommendations.
Ease of Use: Although there have been many improvements in this area recently, most configurations still require expert knowledge of VCL and complex logic. Expanding the availability of templates and providing deeper UI-based configuration options would help make the platform more accessible. Observability: Fastly has made significant progress here as well, but there are still some gaps in metric aggregation and visibility into Compute services. Separation of CDN and WAF UIs: While solutions are coming, managing these services across separate user interfaces is not ideal. A more unified experience would simplify management and improve operational efficiency.
The web interface is pretty clunky and slow. It's a bit painful to click around into different services and compare things. The documentation could use some love, especially around javascript compute (logger for instance is a black box to us, but it...works).
1. Some advanced features may have a steeper learning curve than others. 2. Some sophisticated features might feel easier to adopt with guidance or support, especially for newer team members. 3. Unlocking full potential of the platform requires deeper understanding of concepts such as content delivery, caching, and web application security.
