FileMaker has been a flexible and dependable tool that lets the team build custom workflows with ease and inventory tracking methods for our department.
Very basic, allowing many customizations
FileMaker makes it very easy to create small solutions very quickly and easily. It also works well as a RAD tool to prototype apps to be used on a larger scale. It's nice that you don't necessarily need to use their desktop client for more simple solutions. The best thing though is that the design tools (data and UI) are so easy to use.
Managing more complex builds can take time and technical know-how.
Too basic at times
FileMaker has always had issues with being performant. That hasn't seemed to have changed much in their entire history. The biggest improvement was multi-threaded server operations more than a decade ago.

Integration and implementation is about as difficult as other products.

Impressive simplicity for implementation, but needs more tools for server syncing.
The simplicity of creating a workable mobile database is extremely useful for collecting and recording field data to our server in real time. Our clientele have been impressed with their ability to view these data with individualized profiles we assign to them. The necessity to integrate third party applications for server syncing, however, especially when away from a data signal leaves room for improvement for an all-in-one solution.
