FortiClient operates without the need for additional servers or gateways, reducing overhead and simplifying administration compared to alternative solutions. Its integration with FortiClient EMS enables centralised endpoint management, providing streamlined control over clients, vulnerability monitoring, and software update deployment. Furthermore, the built-in antivirus, web filtering, firewall and ZTNA capabilities consolidate functions that would typically require multiple software products, offering an opportunity to further simplify endpoint and system management. After transitioning from another well-known SSL VPN provider to Fortinet's FortiClient, we experienced a substantial decrease in user-reported issues and a significant reduction in IT support calls related to remote access. We were also able to reduce the cost of the solution.

Endpoint posture checking and ZTNA tagging are exceptional. The ability to dynamically grant or revoke access to internal resources based on the real-time health of the machine gives us incredible confidence in our endpoints.
The solution can be complicated to setup. Whilst the GUI is easy to follow, you often have to resort to using cli commands that are not well documented or known. Some users have occasional connectivity issues with FortiClient having disconnects. Some users experience a significant degradation in performance when connected to FortiClient VPN. Whilst the above are problematic, the vast majority of users do not have any issues and are happy with it.
Poor connectivity. very difficult to understand the errors code also.
Implementing full SSL Deep Packet Inspection across a diverse fleet can be highly abrasive. While its capabilities are strong, managing the certificate trust chains and handling application-specific certificate pinning often results in broken web applications that require constant whitelisting.
