FortiGate Next-Generation Firewall

We use FortiGate products for all our sites. Its interface is very friendly, easy to navigate between different menus such as network, policies and objects, security profiles, vpn, users, wifi & switch controller, settings, and security fabric. I like how FortiGate allows us to monitor and control internal as well as external traffic in our network. I really like the security profile and application control features as well as its "easy to manage" firewall policies. It also has a vast database of network addresses for popular services across the Internet, so if I want to allow a certain service, I just type the name, and the addresses and ports will be listed. I really like the ability to do deep SSL inspection.

We've been using FortiGate Next-Gen Firewall in combination with FortiClient EMS for Endpoint management, and overall, it's been a solid experience. FortiGate delivers strong security features like IPS, SSL inspection, web-filtering and application control - all built in. It gives us both the performance and the flexibility we need. One of the standout features for us has been ZTNA, which is built right into Fortigate. It's helped us move away from the old-school VPN approach by letting us control access based on user identity and device posture. Forticlient. managed thorugh EMS managed through EMS , makes sure only comaplint devices can even request access. FortiGate then steps in as the ZTNA gateway to enforce those rules. The integration with FortiAnalyzer has also been valuable. It gives us good visibility into what users and devices are doing, and helps us understand traffic patterns. Creating policies is pretty intuitive, and the system allows for flexible segmentation and access control, which makes scaling easier. That said, support could be better. Fortinet's documentation and knowledge base are decent, but when it comes to support tickets, the turnaround time can eb slower than we'd like. Sometimes, the response feels a bit surface-level unless the issue is escalated.

Based on my experience using Fortigate up to this point, Fortigate has met my office's needs in terms of firewall functionality. The NGFW works well, operates as expected, and is easy to use.

My overall experience with FortiGate has been very positive. The product is stable, feature-rich, and well-suited for enterprise environments. Security effectiveness, performance, and integration with the Fortinet ecosystem work very well.

As a SOC team member, I have found that FortiGate NGTW has played a key role in enhancing out perimeter security and making threat detection more efficient. Its deep packet inspection and real-time threat intelligence have notably boosted our incident response. The centralized management console also helps us monitor and enforce policies effectively across distributed environments.
