Performance of IBM API Connect Across Market Features
IBM API Connect Likes & Dislikes
Strong security which is backed by industry most powerful IBM Datapower gateway Very good API lifecycle management Same features in on-prem and cloud
Intuitive API lifecycle / workflow, built-in approvals (configurable), clean and professional looking UIs
API Connect has the capabilities to manage the end-to-end lifecycle of an API from design to development to publish to run to decommission.
Lacks monetization feature like any payment integration Not easy to troubleshoot it
Not truly fit for purpose for SOAP APIs - problems stemming from handling of SOAP as ReST (wrapping SOAP specifications with an OAS / Swagger). Hit and miss OAS support - partial support at best. Really poor Validation Policy implementation. No mechanisms to enforce unique API address scheme - allows contention (multiple APIs registered to the same address), and allows this scenario to play-out in the most confusing of ways - without any warning.
It is a bit complicated.
