Performance of Azure SQL Database Across Market Features
Azure SQL Database Likes & Dislikes
Relational databases are easy to deploy, scale and to manage for large teams. Microsoft support is always great and disaster recovery has saved more than one use case from a real disaster.
Ease of deployment to rapidly scale and take down resources as needed
Quick and easy to deploy new databases and scale up or down. Underlying infrastructure managed. Links in well with Microsoft Fabric via SQL database mirroring which is useful for analytics and data engineering.
SLA from azure this last year with the outages has caused several issues for projects. Additionally, the lack of T-SQL support in the providers of terraform (which is a common topic for all sql databases/servers we are deploying) leads to scripting that is less stable.
The cost structure can be confusing initially and marketing resources don't clarify the cost. This is a overall issue with Azure however since their cost calculators are complex to navigate if we need to onboard a new service.
No SQL agent jobs (although elastic jobs can be used). Limit on number of IP addresses that can be whitelisted on a virtual server. Depending on the performance required it can end up costing alot for a single database.

Granular Permissions Challenging Due to Terraform Limitations and Recent SLA Outages
We deployed a huge amount of SQL Databases and the product has been really stable and useful for data engineers. The ability to scale and the ease of integration with other Azure resources is optimal for our platform and allows us to implement a user concept properly. However, it is quite annoying that for more granular permission segregation we have to run scripting because t-sql capabilities are not available in the terraform providers. - DBA<50M USDSoftwareReview Source

Consistent Performance And Usability Balanced By Issues In Support And Cost Control
the platform has significantly improved our data management, analytics and reporting capabilities. integration with existing tools was smoot and performance remains consistent. - IT AssociateGov't/PS/EdGovernmentReview Source
Microsoft Support and Ninja Teams Assist in Optimizing Application and SQL Performance
We have had excellent experience working with Microsoft Support and the Ninja Teams. They have been invaluable in helping us fine tune our application and SQL queries. They have provided numerous recommendations for increasing performance and query reports to help us determine where the bottlenecks may be in our custom application or our other vendor's application that utilizes the SQL Managed Instances. - Product Manager50M-1B USDIT ServicesReview Source
Scalability and Managed Features Stand Out in Azure SQL Hyperscale Experience
We got some good support in the initial phase of using Azure SQL Hyperscale. In the startup phase it is hard to find all the information you need w/o asking questions to the right people at MS.
