“NetApp Keystone Flexible and scalable”

5.0
Jan 10, 2023
Keystone services give us flexibility and scalability for NAS environment. The pay per use approach give us oppurtunity to leverage the whole storage instead of having your own storage which in the end you will end up not utilizing it. It give us also to reduce our company carbon footprint, less investment in the hardware. Lastly, this give us flexibility in cost management where we can park certain dollars for storage we used and at the same time the remaining amount to other important initiatives.

Great way to work with OPEX and Netapp. The System itself is exactly the same as a CAPEX one. So everything not only feels the same but also handles the exact same way except that you have to take care about costs per month/year.

NetApp Keystone Enables Scalable Storage With Flexible Service Levels and Cost Control

    5.0
    May 4, 2026
NetApp Keystone made storage planning more practical instead of over provisioning capacity upfront, we could consume storage based on actual customer business and scale as requirements increased. Also it was useful in day to day operations because it helped reduce the effort of managing storage growth, performance needs and cost visibility while giving the enterprise-grade storage platform.

Performance of NetApp Keystone Across Market Features

NetApp Keystone Likes & Dislikes

Like

Keystone services give us flexibility and scalability smoothly

Like

It can support extra capacity beyond the committed storage which helps during migration, new configuration or even unexpected data spike beyond that Keystone let us choose storage service levels based on the app requirement, so critical workloads can get better performance while normal workload can use low cost level.

Like

The flexibility and the interaction with the Netapp to determine what kind of system we should have

Dislike

Inconsistent technical knowledge of the support in resolving the issues.

Dislike

A couple of improvements could be better lile capacity commitment needs better planning because unused committed storage can still add cost. Billing can be hard to understand at first, especially with committed capacity

Dislike

it costs something ;-) But fortunately we are really happy with the service, therefore we can set that pain in relation and are happy to pay our bills ;-)
