Consolidating multiple databases into a single super server that provides unmatched performance. High availability with no single point of failure and Oracle RAC to ensure smooth RDBMS patching. Automation of some DBA tasks like auto indexing for OLTP workloads.

Exadata allows us to store data at scale in a relational environment

What I like most is the speed of processing the data. What normally takes hours to run a process for me now takes minutes.

From a technical point of view, we did not find anything to complain about. I know the price was elevated and was a critical factor at the time of the decision (I was not involved) but overall the advantages in performance justified the investment.

Oracle doesn't easily integrate with some BI tools (e.g. Spotfire)

You do have to make sure you can handle the infrastructure to support it, but otherwise, it helps me get my tasks done relatively quickly.
