In our line of work, illustration is one of the key that we have to use very often, either to present something to customer or to provide monthly report to department head. As a SOC engineer, we mostly work with alerts but at the end of the month we have to submit an analytical report to the team manager which finally goes to the customer. That's where Visio comes into play. Visio helps us to create visual and easy to understand network topologies, alert workflows and incident response process into clear, customer friendly diagrams which even non-technical people can understand easily.

Visio is and easy to use tool, but talking about capability, recent updates, innovation, it's difficult to compete with other free or cheap solutions for some capabilities.
