Overall Comment:"Stripe has been a core part of our operations from day one. It powers all of our customer payments for our systems and handles payments, retries, refunds, and invoicing. Developer experience is unmatched, and the dashboard is intuitive enough for non-technical team members to se confidently. As a fintech startup, Stripe gives us both the flexibility and compliance foundation we need."
1. The API documentation is best-in-class which makes it incredibly fast to integrate (according to our CTO) and customise across complex flows (e.g. recurring payments, invoicing). 2. Stripe dashboard is powerful and accessible – even team members without a financial or technical background can find transactions, track failures and issue refunds. 3. Smart retries and recovery tools reduce manual intervention when handling payment failures and we can reattempt payments as long as their card is on file.
1. Dispute resolution feels opaque and leans heavily in favour of the cardholder – there's little recourse even with strong evidence. 2. Limited customisation of pages – we'd love more control over the branding of the checkout and invoice pages beyond logo and colour. 3. Fees are incredibly high, especially for startups managing lower margins.
