Advanced Testing Features Present, But Pricing and Support Remain Ongoing Challenges

Likes and dislikes about

likes

What I like the most about Tosca is how it fundamentally changes the way one approaches test automation, especially when working on larger and more complex systems. One of its standout strengths is the model-based testing approach. Instead of relying on repetitive scripting, it allows you to build reusable modules that represent parts of the application. This makes a noticeable difference in long-term maintainability, because any changes in the application can often be handled by updating a single module rather than multiple test cases. Another feature that stood out to me is its ability to support end-to-end testing across different layers, including UI, API and even enterprise systems like SAP. This unified approach removes the need to rely on multiple tools for different testing needs, which simplifies both execution and management. It also makes it easier to design more comprehensive test scenarios that reflect real business workflows rather than isolated test cases. A third strength is the built-in intelligence within the tool, particularly around element identification and test stability. Features like self-healing and AI-assisted recognition help reduce flaky tests, which is a common issue in automation. This improves reliability over time and reduces the effort required to constantly fix broken tests due to minor UI changes. Overall, what stands out most is that the tool is clearly designed with long-term efficiency in mind, rather than just quick automation wins.

dislikes

Pricing, the product is one of the best on the market and they treat it as a near monopoly. Reaching representatives is not easy, and when you do, they are often unable to do much for you due to management. Tricentis' ecosystem is big, but often their advanced solutions are incompatible with other ecosystems out there.
