I can say that my experience with GitLab has been very good. It is very convenient to use, and it allows us to organize all our activities in one place. It help us to do the code management, tracking, and automation of projects, thus saving time and facilitating our teamwork. It also assists our metric framework by allowing us to monitor important metrics and performance. The data integration functions allow us to easily integrate data from various sources. Benchmarking assistance allows us to compare results and monitor our progress over time. The access control options are very convenient to manage and allow us to grant appropriate access permissions to particular individuals. We also use it for survey collection and feedback, which helps us improve our processes.

GitLab provided a comprehensive and reliable platform for version control and source code management with a team. I had investigated this platform when building an end-to-end development pipeline. I didn't use it in the end as it lacked the design that was suitable to my use-case when compared to other version control tools and software delivery management suites. 

My overall experience however was positive. Many parts of the SDLC are brought into one place, making it good for a team who have a strong emphasis on running pipelines and supporting deployment workflows across multiple environments.

It breaks the bad habit of the siloed work approach with its robust data integrations across multicloud infrastructure. Gitlab has helped by deploying and automated metrics framework that is secure and easy to use. Enterprises can accurately check/track DORA metrics to check stability and velocity which is a great plus. The continuous benchmarking in the platform identifies performance bottlenecks, and the high-level access control mechanism supports compliance without slowing down development.
