Product: Checkmk

Comprehensive monitoring across platforms with flexible integration options

Product: Checkmk

Since 17 years for me a the best and flexible monitoring solution

Likes and dislikes about

likes

It can run on almost any platform or OS, works well out of the box and is easy to setup. It can monitor any OS or device, either by Agent, API, SNMP or piggy backed by other hosts. There are a lot of integrations with Special Agents which makes it even easier to monitor a variety of vendors. The community is very active in creating custom plugins to make checkmk more flexible. The idea of having multiple sites on a single server running different versions at the same time is a good way to test new features without destroying the production site. Checkmk can be easily deployed on different servers and set up as a distributed environment.

dislikes

A main concern is the licencing strategy. In recent years, important features have increasingly been moved into higher-tier license editions. This can make customers feel pressured to upgrade to more expensive licenses in order to access functionality that has become essential for their use cases.
