To me ProtoPie is failing on its pricing, lack of development in their UI design features and their handling of mobile prototypes. Firstly, ProtoPie used to have an accessible price point that made it easy to justify both for me as a freelancer and within the company I worked for. However, they suddenly raised their prices by 600% which deterred further use (this seemed to be connected to a higher focus on hardware prototyping for some reason). They've since created more accessible price packages, but these are still rather expensive when you only really want to pay for gaps in the prototyping capability they cover. Secondly, I haven't seen much development in their UI Designing capabilities over the last couple of years. Whilst competitors have introduced features that mimic the css flexbox (making UI design so much faster), ProtoPie hasn't made any notable releases here. Finally, when developing mobile prototypes I have two issues: sharing with client is cumbersome as the client needs to install another ProtoPie app for simply viewing the prototype. Also, if I'm prototyping with a custom font, it's not able to display that font properly on mobile and will revert to a standard font (this sometimes breakdown design and for sure is off-brand).
