My overall experience with Proctorio has been very positive because it gives our distance learning programs a flexible and scalable way to protect exam integrity without creating massive administrative headaches. The primary reason this tool works so well for our campus is that it lets us offer online courses while giving instructors confidence that online testing standards remain fair and secure. Having a dependable automated tool means our faculty can focus on teaching rather than spending countless hours trying to monitor online exams manually. The remote monitoring and configurable settings are easily the highlights of the software for our daily operation. Instructors love that they can tailor the security level for each assessment, choosing strict settings like full browser lock and ID checks for major midterms, while dialing things back for low stakes weekly quizzes. The AI proctoring and cheating detection features work well together behind the scenes, scanning video, audio and browser activity to flag suspicious behavior on a clear review screen. This saves our instructors from having to watch hours of raw recording footage, making it much easier to catch actual issues like unauthorized web searches or additional people in the room. However, a couple of areas haven't been as smooth for our faculty and students. Since the platform relies on automated software instead of live human proctoring, there is no real-time human intervention if a student encounters a technical glitch or attempts to cheat during the exam, leaving instructors to review recorded flags after the test is already over. Additionally, the automated system can sometimes generate false flags for simple habits like a student reading a question out loud, looking away from the screen to think or having household noise in the background. Despite these minor issues, the overall ease of use, strong flexibility and reliable security makes Proctorio a very effective choice for supporting our online education department.
