Sentinel es un SIEM y un SOAR que tiene una integración súper natural con el ecosistema de aplicaciones Microsoft, lo que desde el inicio es una razón para su implementación como parte de las soluciones de Azure. Pero también debe sobresalir la capacidad de análisis de grandes volúmenes de datos.
Otro aspecto que en lo personal me encanta es la escalabilidad y flexibilidad, ya que al ser un servicio de la nube, se adapta de forma natural a los requerimientos que se enfrente la empresa, y por supuesto, es sumamente flexible a niveles de capacidad de procesamiento de datos.
Para resaltar, y que a mi me encantó, fue la detección avanzada de amenazas mediante inteligencia artificial y aprendizaje automático con lo que la detección de amenazas avanzadas y patrones de comportamiento anómalos se hace a un nivel distinto, y con ello, logramos anticiparnos a la detección y respuesta.

Sentinel is a SIEM and SOAR that integrates seamlessly with the Microsoft application ecosystem, which is a reason to implement it as part of Azure solutions from the outset. But its ability to analyze large volumes of data must also stand out. Another aspect I personally love is its scalability and flexibility. Being a cloud service, it naturally adapts to the company's requirements and, of course, is extremely flexible in terms of data processing capacity. A highlight, and one I loved, was its advanced threat detection using artificial intelligence and machine learning. This allows for the detection of advanced threats and anomalous behavior patterns to be performed at a different level, allowing us to anticipate detection and response.

Microsoft Sentinel for SAP security is a powerful addition to the broader Microsoft security ecosystem, especially for organizations already invested in Azure. From a user perspective, one of the strongest aspects is its deep integration with SAP environments. It provides visibility into SAP logs and activities that are traditionally hard to monitor, helping security teams detect suspicious behavior across critical business processes. Another clear advantage is its scalability and cloud-native design. Since it runs on Azure, it can handle large volumes of SAP data without the performance constraints you might see in on-prem solutions. Another strong point is its built-in playbooks and AI-driven analytics that help reduce manual effort.
That said, there are some areas where users often run into friction. The first is complexity in deployment and configuration. Setting up Sentinel specifically for SAP requires a solid understanding of both SAP systems and Azure architecture, which can be a steep learning curve for teams without cross-domain expertise. Another drawback is cost predictability. Because pricing is based on data ingestion and usage, SAP environments with high transaction volumes can quickly become expensive if not tuned. A big issue is the maturity of SAP-specific detection content. While improving, some users might feel that the out-of-the-box rules and playbooks for SAP are not as comprehensive as those available for more common IT systems, requiring additional customization to achieve full coverage.
Overall, Microsoft Sentinel for SAP is a strong, modern solution that excels in visibility, scalability and automation, but it demands careful planning, skilled resources and cost management to get the most value out of it.
