We use consul as part  distributed setup between our different clouds deployments.  Unfortunately with the patching request announced recently however the recommended upgrade version of consul didn't work with our other products. 

Beside the above issue overall I am satisfy with the functionality of Consul and it integrates with other products well.

We use Hashicorp Consul for Service to Service communication networks. We have tried inhouse solutions for achieveing S2S communication but the architecture was always resulting in security concerns hence we moved to hashicorp consul. Since it is cloud native solution it was easy to install and set up although documentation for set up and integration is a bit confusing and we had to wait for long to get in touch with customer srvice to resolve our issues. Overall a great tool to accomplish service mesh architecture within our products
