Gartner defines the source-to-pay (S2P) suite market as an integrated set of solutions to source, contract, request, procure, receive and pay for goods and services across an enterprise. These solutions typically are sold as cloud-based software as a service.
Source-to-pay suites allow organizations to manage all of their sourcing and procurement activities within a single integrated solution. These solutions are modular in nature, allowing customers to activate/implement the functionality that is relevant for their needs, and are ERP/financial-system-agnostic. The integrated nature of these solutions allows for data to easily flow across the source-to-pay process, providing needed visibility to upstream and downstream information. For example, users can view a purchase order alongside its related contract, the sourcing event that led to the contract, and connected downstream documents like receipts, invoices and payments.

SAP's brand positioning of Suite First disenfranchises many Ariba customers, us included.  We do not have an SAP ERP and many of the offerings focus mainly on customers that do.  For example, AI is one of those.  It seems that SAP wants to dictate to their smaller customers and are not listening to our needs.  There is too much red tape for smaller clients to have to go through.  Our success is dictated by the quality of our Account Team, and there are no complaints here.  Many customers without a good SAP Ariba support team will go through a lot of frustration with trying to get things done.

Where SAP Ariba currently lacks is there customer support as there is a lack of urgency when tickets are filed.  We have purchased an upgraded service offering and we do not feel we are getting the bang for the buck.

When system changes are made (Service Packs, Hot Fixes, etc.) there is a serious lack of quality control which causes catastrophic downtimes.

Many functionalities are complex and not self explanatory. Intergration with SAP is not as easy as advertised. Guided buying is ok but some key features such as viewing & resubmitting the PO to the vendor are only available in old UX.
