The people. The recent increased focus on customer service has helped to bridge gaps across all supply chain operations. Supply chain software continues to evolve, bringing increased functionality, and an openness to listen and take on feedback and input into their product development.
I think the game changer was when they started to focus on what we as partners were looking for instead of pushing their own ideas. It feels like we're still controlling the 4PL more than we should, but they've learned to deal with it. They have a very good understanding of our business and they're always ready to come up with some new ideas.
The centralized visibility tool, ControLOG, allows us to share shipment information in case of escalation, logistics problem. Those tools & systems will not be sufficient if we would not benefit from a customer oriented team. Centralization of outsourcing of non-core activities is essential to benefit from the control tower principle and avoid spreading the tasks across multiple partners.
Shifting the focus within the system and service to be balanced between a shipment view and a customer view, which will often be an order and/or SKU. Lacks an overall view or status of the supply chain, data and applications could be better integrated to give a snapshot of supply chain health and risks.
We're expecting more than what they're offering us for free. It feels like the partnership has a cap when it comes to business gestures. Sometimes it feels like even after a ~15 years of partnership, short-term goals are more important than longevity.
Lanes setup or modification in Oracle TM is not the most user-friendly/advanced process, bringing not enough flexibility in case of network changes. Increased agility expected to react faster to network changes and/or expansions.
