The open-source project, Presto, instituted originally by Facebook and implemented within organizations like Uber and Twitter, serves as a recognized standard for swift SQL processing on data lakes. Being an instrumental part of both the Presto community and the Presto Foundation under the Linux Foundation, Ahana dedicates its efforts towards the expansion and promotion of the open-source Presto. Inaugurated in 2020, Ahana has its headquarters in San Mateo, CA and operates virtually as an all-remote company. Its acquisition was made by IBM in April 2023.
