What I like most about the Alex platform is how much clarity it brings to my daily work with data. I also really appreciate how easy it is to search for and understand data assets. I can quickly find definitions, metadata and context all in one place. The platform also brings consistency to my governance practices. Features like the business glossary and automated tagging help enforce standards across the organization without a lot of manual effort.
The ease of usability has been a key differentiator. It has an intutive UI which makes the tool easy for business users and data enthusiasts. The presentation of the tool can be self configured using the Ontology settings provided. This functionality ensures that different labels can be used for the various data objects scanned. The provision of data quality scanners is a key tool which sets this product above its competitors. Alex provides a pletora of metadata scanners for different data sources, and developed a custom data quality scanner to fulfil a niche requirement from us. Customer service from the Alex team was prompt and great, and the time zone differnce was of no consequence.as the Alex implementation team were happy to work during the UK office hours. The tools offers 3 implementation modes, which implies we were able to evaluate and chose the most appropriate option which best suited our architecture and data privacy policies.
The things I like most about the tool includes: 1. Configure It as You Like: The tool is very easy to set up and use. One of the best thing about this is that you can configure it according to your requirements. So, you can configure it differently according to the needs of different projects. 2. User Support: Tool provides you with impeccable user support. Any doubt or problem you have regarding the tool, you can contact the support and they are quick to come up with the solution. 3. Extensive Glossary: The tool plays a vital role in merging all the aspects of the projects together. It provides you with an extensive glossary feature that helps you in bringing both business and technical worlds together.
There isn't anything I dislike about the Alex platform. If that ever changes, I would definitely be open to sharing it.
Alex only offers a form authentication method out of the box, which wasnt ideal with our requirement to authenticate users via the company's active directory. This requirement was picked up by the Alex implementation team, who added this change onto the application roadmap and delivered a version with AD Authentication within weeks. This mode of authentication is now available in Alex but it would have been great if it was originally included. Kudos to the team for the prompt reaction and response.
There is nothing to complain when it comes to Alex. I like the tool very much and have nothing to say which is not in favour of the tool.
