Frees up time for our admins/engineers to spend on things other than basic maintenance, alert response, and monitoring of performance.
everything as a service, on prem, easy to manage
not necessarily dislike, but we just were told Dell Apex was acquired by another company and we may face the whole contract process again - do not know
Support didn't always communicate minor planned work, or notify us on noticing a problem until after it was resolved and we found it as well. OS version of hardware was kept several versions behind to the point of hitting a bug, and only allowed an update when we pushed for them to support newer versions.

The APEX storage solution was flexible in sizing and performance for our needs, and ensured that most maintenance and performance related tasks were handled by support personnel, saving time for our own admins. The coordination of work planning still took a good amount of time, and the software was often left to run several versions behind, including to the point of being hit by an unlikely bug. Negotiating the resizing of our base capacity contract took longer than expected.
