Given that the majority of our virtual platforms are in AWS, this service made a tremendous amount of sense since the integrations needed and support services were readily available. When starting up with this subscription, we found that element to be essential.
AWS Application mesh framework does not only able to combine all of your existing APIs, but also provide a unified logging and tracing support, which is very helpful to debug cross API failure handling to improve the robustness of each APIs. Such powerful debugging function could shorten developer's time and improve delivery efficiency.
Secure, configurable, and it's Amazon!
The one drawback we found was the dependence on x-ray, the debugging and error tracing product needed with AWS App Mesh. It was by far, the least intuitive and most challenging element to add to our environment. Still, the hassle was worth it.
Not too much, this service is only available on AWS, hope there could be a cloud platform independent such kinds of service on GCP and Azure.
There have been no weaknesses I have come across so far.
