Performance of Axonius Exposures Across Market Features
Axonius Exposures Likes & Dislikes
The most valuable aspect of Axonius is comprehensive asset visibility with minimal manual effort. The platform integrates with a wide range of systems (both security tools and infrastructure systems), and within weeks, we had a near-complete view of all devices, users and software in the environment. Because Axonius normalizes and enriches the raw data it pulls in, we can quickly reconcile duplicate records and see a clean, accurate inventory without heavy manual cleanup. I especially appreciate the ability to define queries and rules that automatically flag non-compliant assets (e.g. devices missing endpoint protection or machines that fall outside the patching cadence). For example, we set up queries that continuously check whether manufacturing endpoints are running outdated OS versions or if cloud instances are missing required tags and Axonius surfaces those exceptions instantly. This aligns well with quality management principles, where consistency and real time visibility are essential. Another strength is the dashboarding and reporting capabilities. We can easily generate audit-ready reports for both internal compliance checks and external assessments, which saves significant time compared to manually collecting evidence. the scheduled reporting feature has been especially useful-we have recurring compliance snapshots delivered automatically to different stakeholders, reducing back and forth during audits.
nice interface for viewing and creating reports
A few things, automation workflows that helps us trigger alerts as we want, powerful query that help us build dashboards for overall security posture and also the integration support for wide range of adapters.
The biggest challenge we faced with Axonius was data correlation when pulling in feeds from legacy manufacturing systems alongside modern IT tools. For example, our OT devices often have inconsistent identifiers compared to IT-managed assets, which led to duplicate records until we invested time in refining queries. The platform provides the capability to normalize this data, but it required more upfront configuration than we anticipated. Some of the adapters for older industrial protocols did not capture metadata consistently, so we had to build custom logic to align naming conventions with what IT systems were expecting. Another area that could be improved is the user experience for building advanced queries. The logic is powerful, but it isn't always intuitive to users outside of IT security. We had to provide additional guidance to compliance team members who needed to run targeted reports. For non-technical staff, even basic Boolean operators and nested conditions can feel overwhelming, so the learning curve is higher than expected compared to tools with more visual query builders. Lastly, while dashboards are flexible, creating compliance frameworks (e.g. ISO 9001 or NIST mappings) requires manual setup rather than out of the box templates. It would be helpful if Axonius offered prebuilt mappings or starter dashboards for common regulatory standards, since right now each organization has to recreate them individually.
lack of scanning or ability to find items not in DB
Customizing complex queries can take a bit to learn, it's not that user-friendly and has a decent learning curve.

Automated Asset Aggregation Eases Reporting Despite Legacy Data Integration Difficulties
Our organization implemented Axonius to gain a consolidated view of all assets across a highly complex environment that spans both corporate IT and manufacturing operations. As a quality manager, I place significant emphasis on compliance, risk visibility and operational continuity. Prior to Axonuis, asset visibility was fragmented, with different teams relying on their own point solutions and manual reporting. The Axonius platform has significantly streamlined this by automatically aggregating data from multiple sources - endpoint detection, identity systems, vulnerability scanners and cloud providers-and presenting a unified, trustworthy inventory. One of the most valuable aspects has been the query builder, which lets us create custom logic to spot unmanaged devices or assets missing security agents without waiting on manual checks. This has improved our ability to validate compliance controls and quickly identify gaps that might otherwise go unnoticed. - SENIOR INFORMATION SECURITY ENGINEER1B-10B USDHardwareReview Source
