DevExpress forces a design that is typically simple and thus easy to engineer for UI/UX designers. Going hand-in-hand with software developer, a single DevExpress project inspires the simple yet effective design of forthcoming projects. This means that developers are already aware of the limitations UI/UX designers are subject to and thus cannot design the typically difficult yet innovative designs many software development companies experience. This however does rely on both teams understanding the beneficial limitation of a lack of component configurability with DevExpress.
I don't really like the product, but sometimes, I use it because it does have a lot of controls. Their service and support are good enough.
Report designer and clean, consistent, and responsive UI control in this product are the most important thing for me.
- Lack of configurability with components, en emphasis on custom components where their background CSS is exposed and editable would promote greater diversity between products whilst keeping company brand - Poor documentation and outdated support that fails to resemble the modern framework - dx-data-grids are simple however the validation on these fields is clunky. Strong colours indicating incorrect/correct values are off-putting and disabling a cell still allows it to be navigated to with tab controls
1. Integration is not easy 2. The product seems to be over engineered 3. big footprint
Some of the little bit difficulty that I am facing while using DevExpress are, quite difficult to debug if encountered any bugs or errors, sometimes its grid is taking a long time to load for thousands of rows of data.
