Product Information on FortiAP

Updated 13th October 2025

What is FortiAP?

FortiAP is a software designed to manage and secure wireless access points within enterprise environments. It offers centralized configuration, monitoring, and control for wireless networks, enabling organizations to deploy secure Wi-Fi across multiple locations. The software integrates with security management systems to enforce network policies and provides features such as traffic analytics, threat detection, access control, and device authentication. FortiAP addresses the business problem of maintaining secure connectivity and regulatory compliance by simplifying the management of wireless networks and protecting data transmitted over Wi-Fi. The software supports multiple deployment modes to accommodate various network architectures.

FortiAP Pricing

FortiAP software pricing is structured based on hardware purchase with optional support, licensing, and subscription services for management and security features. Ongoing costs may include licenses for cloud or central management and advanced security functions, depending on deployment requirements and chosen models.

Well-integrated Wi-Fi for a Fortinet-standardised network, with basic RF tooling

    4.0
    Aug 3, 2026
We run FortiAP access points on top of an existing FortiGate and FortiSwitch estate, and manage the whole wired and wireless LAN from a single console. Day-to-day operations are straightforward, SSID and VLAN changes are quick, and coverage and roaming across our offices have been reliable. The main trade-off is that wireless management inside FortiOS is not as deep as a dedicated WLAN platform: RF tuning and client-level troubleshooting are more limited, and support quality varies depending on the engineer you get. For an organisation already standardised on Fortinet, the integration and the price/performance clearly outweigh those gaps.
