FortiAP Likes & Dislikes
What I like most about FortiAP is its seamless integration with the FortiNet security ecosystem which allows for centralized management and consistent policy enforcement across the entire network, the ease of deployment combined with strong wireless performance.
Its performace is as expected and meets expectations
FortiAP has been a strong addition to our IT environment as it has helped us address both security and management challenges in one streamlined solution. The integration of wireless access with Fortinet's security framework has noticeably improved the overall security of our network. Operationally, FortiAP has allowed us to consolidate vendors. By combining wireless networking and security under the Fortinet ecosystem, we've been able to streamline support, licensing, and ultimately improve efficiency across the IT Team. The end result has been a more secure, manageable, and cost-effective network infrastructure.
FortiAP's advanced configuration options and firmware update process can be a bit complex and less intuitive, especially for users. detailed and user friendly to help streamline troubleshooting and upgrades Additionally, while centralized management is powerful, it can sometimes feel overwhelming for smaller teams without dedicated network administrators.

Streamlined Wireless Management and Security Noted as Key Benefits in Implementation
My experience with Fortinet has been superb. They are very responsive, provide insights and resources that are assistive to our team and end users. Being able to have knowledge resources available in the higher education industry is detrimental to the success of our information technology department as we operate 19 hours a day. First call resolution is something I haven't encountered with other vendors in the 20 plus years I've been in the technology field, and they've done their best to assist my team with tier 2 and tier 3 issues. Deploying and maintaining a brand-new infrastructure is an arduous task in itself, but everyone, from the service desk to our account manager, has been with us from day one and have become partners in our success. - CHIEF NETWORK AND TELECOM OFFICIER50M-1B USDReal EstateReview Source
FortiAP + Fortigate = Easy Wifi and solid results
We have been running FortiAP (221E) for 18 months across 70 sites. The big win is the Fortilink. If you are already a Fortigate client, being able to manage the whole access point from the firewall is super handy. We have already Fortiswitch, wich make experience just a smooth. All rules pushed from one place, complete visibility on the LAN/VLAN, i like very much. - ASSOCIATE MANAGER, IT SECURITY AND RISK10B+ USDReal EstateReview Source
Smooth Ecosystem Integration Noted, While Manual Firmware Updates Remain Challenging
The setup process was straightforward and managing the access points via FortiGate streamlined operations. Wireless coverage and performance have remained strong, even in high traffic areas. Overall, it's a reliable solution that integrated well with our security system. - SYSTEN AND NETWORK ADMIN50M-1B USDEnergy and UtilitiesReview Source
FortiAP Integration With Fortigate Simplifies Management Amid Firmware Bug Concerns
The integration of FortiAP in a context with Fortigate and Fortimanager provides a fast and easy integration. The AP management is easily done from the fortigates, as for the WIFI. But you can also go further and manage a more complex and global WIFI integration with template, that is trully appreciable. The main over side of FortiAPs is the recurrent firmware related bugs, that could cause for a hug amount of time some WIFI disruption like reccurent disconnections at a random or regular occurence, or some channel overlap.
