Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) Likes & Dislikes
Easy cluster management, strong performance and reliability with deep integration with Google Cloud. Logging, monitoring, IAM and VPC integration feels seamless. It's easy to connect GKE to other GCP services without complicated configurations.
We liked the one sing-in and permission set up for all clusters with RBAC models. Also the config is git based and allows us to have a maintained version control of everything integrated int the tool. Uptime promised by google is great, we have not faced any problem regarding to these and not even our customers.
The integration with the Google console and how from scratch you can have a complete K8s cluster is amazing, other providers need to spend many hours configuring the basics, but on GKE you have it from the first moment.
Costs can add up with surrounding services. GKE itself is reasonably priced, but the surrounding services will add up quickly. Steep learning curve for beginners. Some features feel Google only.
Updates can break, and a missed patch has already caused some of our on-prem clusters to roll back. We had to learn and install a bunch of components before having it operative. Third-party ecosystem is not as rich as for kubernetes
Some specific resources cant be configured from the UI, but its something that happens in other clouds too.

RBAC Integration and Uptime Stable, Third-Party Support and Updates Still Limited
Anthos allows us to have a management plane across our on-prem, cloud and cloud on Google. Policy control and service mesh integration saved us operations time. The tricky part is that once you get everything running: updating the clusters and keeping the config tool in sync with Google's updates still requires more manual work than we would like. Also we need to be careful about unexpected costs because we forgot to set limits (Would be nice to have some kind of warning) - SYSTEMS ENGINEER<50M USDMiscellaneousReview Source
Reliable, fast and easy to manage - just watch out for add-on costs.
My overall experience with Google Kubernetes Engine has been very positive. GKE makes managing Kubernetes clusters much easier than running them on-prem or manually in the cloud. - DEVOPS<50M USDTravel and HospitalityReview Source
GKE Enables Seamless Kubernetes Cluster Creation and Smooth Upgrades for Admins
I have solid experience with GKE, upgrades and autoscaling is smooth. Many cool features are based on openSource projects in the background and the observability default view is amazing, no other cloud provider has that detail with zero-config. - ASSOCIATE10B+ USDHealthcare and BiotechReview Source
Open Source Cloud Platform Criticized for Complexity and Minimal Customization Options
This is not the best cloud management system, while it does provide a unifide platform it is hard to learn abnd manage and it's very very limited on customization. Customer support is also pretty lacluster. - SOFTWARE DEVELOPER50M-1B USDBankingReview Source
GKE offers a reliable and scalable platform that simplifies Kubernetes management through strong automation, seamless integration and consistent performance. While there is some complexity around cost.
Overall my experience with google kubernetes Engine has been very positive. The platform is stable, scalable and easy to manage, with smooth integration across the google cloud ecosystem. It simplifies cluster operations and provides reliable performance for production workloads.
