MDM is hard, get buy in from your business first. Align people and process first

MDM is hard to implement. IBM Initiate Registry style MDM was even harder to implement, not from the techynology perspective only but mostly from process and people perspective. IBM consultant with previous experience from similar customer background help a lot to boost business leadership's confidence and get a buy in from people and process perspective

IBM's MDM product continues to improve. Early versions were less capable.

IBM's product at the time was lagging behind our first choice but other relationships drove the strategic decision to choose IBM. We were one of the first implementations for their Initiate product; this has evolved overtime to be their current offering.

Implementing MDM solution is only part of the battle in establishing quality data and information governance... even if the vendor makes it sound otherwise.

Implementation took much longer than expected... many bumps along the road.
