MDM is hard, get buy in from your business first. Align people and process first
MDM is hard to implement. IBM Initiate Registry style MDM was even harder to implement, not from the techynology perspective only but mostly from process and people perspective. IBM's product at the time was lagging behind our first choice but other relationships drove the strategic decision to choose IBM. Implementing MDM solution is only part of the battle in establishing quality data and information governance... even if the vendor makes it sound otherwise.
Implementation took much longer than expected... many bumps along the road.
