Informatica Powercenter has a user-friendly UI which helps the fresher to learn the use quicker. Also, the link option which highlights the columns helps to back track the data flow in an easier way. In-built scheduler helps to run the workflow and schedule the runs automatically. The session logs from the monitor are detailed and help to debug the error easily at every stage level. Also you can override the source, lookup queries using SQL Override function.

I like how all the details of the pipeline work flow can be found in one place and how compartmentalized the objects are. Specifically, I enjoy the feature of having to trace back each column to its origin be checking the backward lineage.

Informatica PowerCenter is a leader in the data movement (ETL, ELT) space. Informatica support is very responsive. Utilizing Informatica provides a large pool of available and capable developers.

Initial connection and logging into a repository is slow and time consuming, You first need to connect repo, then connect folder and then access the workflow/session/mapping. You always need a session and workflow to run a mapping and check your development. Sometimes the changes made in the mappings do not reflect in the session level until you refresh manually.

It is not intuitive at all. It takes a lot of trial and error to figure out what each item means.

The cost structure can be very confusing. Like every other vendor, there is a push to move to the cloud. This affects our ability to capitalize the investment. IICS is a large shift in interface and requires additional training. IICS does not allow for the automation we created for Informatica PowerCenter.
