Microsoft Defender Vulnerability Management Likes & Dislikes

Like

It is possible to access the raw data and process it further, e.g. in a ticketing system.

Like

Integrations and inventories. Baseline assessments are useful. Like how its all CVE info based to allow for cross system analysis when a new vuln comes out.

Like

Threat and vulnerability insights are detailed which are very helpful while doing risk prioritization and remediation. Integration with Microsoft Defender XDR is helpful for unified approach.

Dislike

unfortunately, there is currently no way to initiate an update of the data per asset.

Dislike

Finding myself getting overloaded with the platform - so many critical vulnerabilities i don't know where to start - would appreciate some listing. Also find some information isn't accurate which leads to wasted time verifying things. Team have moved to doing things via excel as a work around to track vulnerabilities all in one place.

Dislike

Sometimes the remediation suggestions are not clear. Customization is limited. Dashboard has too many features that it can feel overwhelming.

    Apr 4, 2025
Microsoft has always been a helpful provider when it comes to their security products, any issues or set up problems we are able to contact our success manager or set up a fast track call to implement the changes required to get the product working. When it comes to the vulnerability management side of the product review it has been very helpful as me and a colleague have been tasked with improving the security posture of the company as a whole.
