Dec 12, 2025
My experience with Microsoft Foundry has been largely positive. I primarily use it in conjunction with Azure Databricks, which has been a game changer in being able to handle heavy data prep and feature engineering. There is a bit of a learning curve for the interace, but being able to integrate feature stores in the foundry environment and the rest of our Azure data stack has expedited our analytical maturity for sure.

The evolution of Azure AI studio has become one of our main products for the internal customers for building AI applications. Model deployment and microsoft offering in terms of compliance allowed us to offer this resource for wide variety of applications. Problems with "new" foundry, stability of the SDKs and observability limitations we found as main drawbacks.

Microsoft Foundry Likes & Dislikes

Like

The strongest point for me, and there are a host of things to explore, is the integration with Azure Databricks for feature store workflow. I have been able to build feature tables and Delta live tables in Databricks, and Foundry does relatively well with navigating them. In my own process, I had to move around from platform to platform a great deal, so I appreciate Foundry's ability to provide one unified place for data integrity and experimentation.

Like

Unified AI resource to manage models, endpoints and deploy applications. Model catalog is great and you have variety for choosing the best model that fits into each AI use case and control costs. Improving constantly the agents deployments and integration with OpenAI libraries when deploying a gateway.

Like

End-to-end AI application workflows covering experimentation, evaluation, development and monitoring in a single platform. Strong integration with Azure services, making it easier to manage security, access control and scalability. Built-in governance, guardrails and observability features that make enterprise AI development safer and more reliable.

Dislike

I'm not directly involved in these conversations, but it has been impressed upon me that cost management is imperative. We often have to consult with our tenant managers to ensure that spinning up resources in Databricks and Foundry is tracked with disciplined tagging or it can result in unexpected costs. It has certainly made me more diligent in documentation and the process of our internal workflow.

Dislike

Stability of the resource, Microsoft recently launched a new foundry with tons of bugs but with new features that legacy foundry was not offering. Since many features are very recent we are lacking the terraform provider implementation of some resources. Forces you to have App Insights (with high cost bill) to have a complete observability of the resource.

Dislike

Initial learning curve can be challenging for teams without prior Azure experience. Cost tracking and usage transparency could be more intuitive during large scale experimentation. Some advanced configurations require deeper documentation or more guided templates.

A Production Ready AI Platform With Strong Governance And Scalability

    5.0
    Jan 10, 2026
Microsoft Foundry has delivered a very reliable and structured experience for building and managing AI workflows. What worked well for me was the smooth integration with Azure ecosystem, strong model evaluation capabilities and clear focus on security and governance. The Platform feels production-ready rather than experimental. While the initial learning curve can be slightly steep for new users new to Azure, the overall stability, flexibility, and scalability make it a strong solution for real world AI use cases.

A scalable and secure data foundation with strong Microsoft ecosystem integration

    4.0
    Dec 13, 2025
My overall experience with Microsoft Foundry has been very positive. The platform provides a strong and scalable foundation for managing, integrating and governing enterprise data workloads. What worked well is its deep integration with the Microsoft ecosystem, centralized data governance and enterprise grade security controls. While the solution is powerful, the initial setup & configuration can be complex for teams new to advanced data platforms and cost optimization requires careful planning. Overall, it delivers solid value for organizations looking for a unified and secure data foundation.
