The performance of running Oracle databases on Exadata is not comparable when running on other hardware and it consumes less CPU.

We had OBIEE together with MS SQL Server as the DB, and the performance was ok in general. But in some huge business units (there are 30 in total), the performance for certain reports in OBIEE was slow. So it was decided to migrate to EXADATA as DB. Some experts from Oracle were contracted to do the migration, which took longer than expected. We finally went live with 2 business units, and we were going to continue with the rest of the BU. However, these 2 BU already in EXA, the performance was a total disaster. The reports started taking x2 or x3, or even didn't finish (while in MS SQL they took few seconds). We worked during months trying to fix these performance problems. After some months, we managed to get similar performance than with MS SQL, but we had to hardcode prefixes to set some workaround variables in OBIEE reports (in hundreds or even thousands of reports). And we stop the project for the rest of the BUs. We survived some years with only 2 BUs, and finally went back to MS SQL. After several years, we understood the main problem was in the compression of EXA. But apparently, the "experts" from Oracle that worked on our project didn't know that.
