Goldengate is difficult to use, difficult to troubleshoot, and support is lacking. However, it is the best performing product for Oracle databases. We do have reliability issues as well.

Performance of Oracle GoldenGate Across Market Features

During our initial testing of the product we experienced sub 2 millisecond delay is commits across the two nodes. The resilience and recovery options built into golden gate allow for various recovery options when there are network or hardware interruptions. We also used the tool to off load data to other storage which has saved us time and money in FTE and storage costs.

It is the highest performing product, relative to its peers, when used for Oracle databases.

We have been able to use GoldenGate for many systems of replication to get data into our data warehouse and it has scaled for large systems that have high volumes.

At times Oracle customer support can be slow to respond. GoldenGate can have difficulty with large objects like clobs and blobs depending on their size. Depending on your configuration installation can be tricky.

The reliability of keeping the solution up and running. It is not great for a solution that requires true real-time sync between sources.

1. Sometimes complex issues take some time for a solution. 2. Could be asked to move to a new version to solve an issue. 3. Wish there was a classic architecture version of 23.

Goldengate is a great replication tool that replicates across our company for many vertical channels of data with many types of replication pairs. It can handle large volumes of data, and we have worked with Oracle a number of times to find solutions for the complex challenges we face. In my years with replication, we have not found a tool that can do what Goldengate does for us.

Oracle OGG has been a game-changer for our data replication and high availability strategy. It's incredibly powerful, flexible, and reliable - especially in complex, heterogeneous environments. Whether we're replicating data across different Oracle versions or integrating with cloud platforms. We are using OGG for upgrading Oracle database, or converting them to multitenant architecture, or just for the database replication (uni or bi). OGG consistently delivers real-time replication with minimal overhead. The Microservices Architecture is really great, great manageability and security. It's a core part of our enterprise data infrastructure. In our portfolio we are using multiple OGG HUB servers to cover multiple scenarios.
