My experience has been truly exceptional, primarly because it feels like a traditional utility and more like a high-performance engine for innovation. While other providers often feel like a collection of siloed services, Google Cloud Platform offers a unified data-first ecosystem that has fundamentally changed how we handle scale.

Honestly, it shortens the time it takes for marketing data to get into your hands from IT. Deserves to be outstanding as back in the days we had to wait so long to get the data cleaned, downloaded and uploaded with so many scattered files, snowflake resolves this for us as we get all the data instantly. While there is no doubt that the platform is easy to use, you still do require a little bit of SQL knowledge, but again, you can't complain if you have a little bit of knowledge.

Overall, our experience with Databricks Marketplace has eben mixed but promising. The concept is strong, and it's a natural extension of the wider Databricks ecosystem, making it easy to discover and access third-party datasets without leaving the platform. From a technical point of view, the integration feels smooth and well thought through. However, the actual value depends heavily on the availability of relevant datasets, and in our case the coverage hasn't always aligned closely with our specific industry needs (UK retail).

I am giving it 4 stars because it has completely changed how our company shares data, but the initial setup was tough. The platform works really well as a 'shopping' experience our business users can easily search for data and request access without constantly messaging the IT team. However, setting up the backend rules and mapping all our governance policies took much longer than we expected. Once it is fully set up, it runs great.

Configuration of the application is mostly intuitive. Certain translations where a bit confusing.

Strong governance and granular control over data sovereignty. It effectively bridged the gap between our siloed legacy and secure, audited external data exchange.

AWS Data Exchange makes it much easier to work with third-party datasets without dealing with separate ingestion pipelines. It removes much of the friction typically associated with acquiring external data by handling delivery, updates, and access control through a managed service. This is particularly useful for analytics and ML use cases where combining datasets is important. The platform is particularly useful for organizations that rely on commercial or public datasets and want a consistent way to manage them. Integration with S3, Redshift, and SageMaker helps streamline downstream usage.
