How it focuses your time on delivering value from Backstage not having to set things up. The level of support provided by the team. Tech Insights as a computational governance tool. Tech Docs - everyone being able to quickly host MkDocs content is invaluable.
Low maintenance overhead and simple integration through a flexible and well documented API.
It gives our software engineers a single pane of glass to access all the important information, including not only our software catalogue but also our tech insights and templates/automation.
Not all Backstage plugins are available - often a question of asking, but for less common tools can be a pain point
As the product is upgraded frequently we have seen occasional outages. Early on we missed being notified of new features and fixes which were relevant to us. New features tend to focus on toolsets that we don't use initially, like GitHub and Slack.
I think the UI should be updated and made slightly more modern, if that's a dislike.
