Product(s): ADOIT
Overall Comment:"I worked with different enterprise architecture management tools and helped organizations to integrate, use and adapt them. BOC Group's ADOIT is my favorite due to the reasons explained below."
Service: BOC adopts a team-based approach, which makes their service offering unique. From acquisition to implementation and workshops, we worked with different domain experts and they were all well connected. It goes without saying that team members are highly-skilled both in terms of technical and conceptual aspects. Product: The tool is scalable (basically at no cost!). One example: if you want to model a certain aspect of the architecture, and start small, you can go ahead and limit the number of features and meta-model elements. This may make sense if your organization is not yet knowledgeable about the tool yet. After reaching a certain maturity, you can just activate further features in the tool. Another very important aspect is the support for the ArchiMate standard. There are various tools on the market that already offer this feature, but none of them are as easy to use and understand as ADOIT.
Most limitations from previous versions (e.g. desktop-based administrative toolkit, collaboration possibilities, roadmapping) are all enhanced in the new version (17.0).
Modelling and visualising enterprise architectures, gaining insights by visualising the relationships between architecture artefacts, creating a capability map and looking for the gaps to support (digital transformation) projects.
Collecting internal requirements as early as possible. But BOC knew this already and supported us in the best way possible.
I strongly recommend to document the requirements of the architecture management team and communicate those with BOC. It basically accelarates the whole project. Furthermore, as the tool is strong, do not try to use all the functionalities. Try to start with a few meta model elements and views, complete all the educations and courses (online/ offline) offered, know the tool and then scale. Last but not least do not hesitat to engage in discussions about the product with BOC. They have a plan but still very open-minded concerning the further development of the tool.
