Implementation: We weren't very familiar with the product and its features, so the setup now needs to be changed to make it more user-friendly for the rest of the organization. Implementation: The consultants were very helpful and worked out everything we requested, but we would have appreciated the implementation team's more proactive approach, focusing on the system's capabilities, so we could have had a user-friendly system right from the start. We would have appreciated the experience and insights of other customers (how do other customers set up pages for their managers, etc.). Control and audit: We really miss having a user-friendly approval flow; the current setup is unworkable and requires too much user interaction. We also want to be able to see who made which changes, etc. (an audit trail). HC input: For our managers, a form with, for example, selectable fields would be more workable than the current input table. Security of items in dimensions: Securing the entry or selection of items in dimensions must be done on a page-by-page basis, which is a lot of work for an organization like ours, as things change quite often. Currently, managers can enter all sorts of things that are undesirable. Complicated back end. Even adding basic forecasting assumptions feels too complicated e.g. inflation increases, payrise assumptions. There still seems to be issues with locking versions.

The ADP integration didn't go as planned, which was unfortunate and we had to scrap it or build a custom one via SFTP uploads. It would be nice if you could customize what you bring over through the integration itself to avoid that. I also still think their Excel add-in has a ways to go. It would be great if you could pull dimensionality through the add-in (e.g., specify each row/column/cell which version, time period, account, etc. you're pulling in instead of pulling everything from a model in all at once). That would really unlock a lot for me. Finally, I wish the manual uploads were a little easier to maintain in Abacum. We have a lot of data that still needs to be manipulated in Excel in some way (e.g., ASC 842 leases, our revenue inputs which come from a separate system, etc.), so it would be nice if there was a more intuitive way to bring over these spreadsheets and link/maintain them that isn't just Google Sheets.

From day one, the sales team was very hands on in getting me everything I needed to make the decision between Abacum and other FP&A tools. After that, my implementation team took over and was a great partner to co-build my instance with. They were very involved, detail oriented, and did a good job of helping get everything set up while giving me the freedom to do it how I wanted it. Abacum integrations are fairly easy as well; it took us very little time to set up NetSuite, though our ADP instance didn't end up working because we use certain fields in ADP that Abacum doesn't bring over in their native integration. Overall though, I had a positive experience with Abacum and think the product itself is much better than other FP&A tools I've used in the past. I'm also excited to dive into it more as we build it out more in 2026. I can't wait to see how the AI capabilities will help me with budgeting and forecasting, especially with our multi-site rollup structure.
