Anaplan is heavily invested in integrating AI/ML capabilities into the platform which provides us with an out of the box solution form modelling predictive use cases.

Its easy to develop for the developers

The platform allows you to build, adjust and scale planning models quickly without heavy IT dependency. Real-time calculations, strong scenario planning, and seamless collaboration across teams make it a powerful solution for complex demand planning environments. The interface is modern and intuitive, and the ability to connect assumptions, drivers and plans dynamically creates a much more agile and transparent planning process.

As the model grows bigger in size and if not architected properly, we notice performance degradation over a period of time.

It becomes slow with large no of users and the Platform support had also been poor

My experience with Anaplan is based on the demos, so it's hard to identify major dislikes. The only area that stood out was that some of the more advanced modeling and configuration options appeared complex and would likely require time to fully learn. Additionally, a few of the integrations and data loading workflows seemed like they might need support during initial setup. These are not product flaws, just observations from the demo rather than hands-on use.

My overall experience with Anaplan was very positive. The platform is modern, highly flexible, and intuitive to use. It supports strong scenario planning, real time updates, and seamless collaboration across functions, which are essential in a dynamic demand planning environment. The modelling capabilities are robust yet user friendly, allowing teams to adapt and scale processes without heavy technical support. Although we did not ultimately select Anaplan, I found it to be a well-designed and forward-looking solution that delivers a strong planning experience.

Overall, Anaplan as a product and organization has a lot of potential. It's good, but I think it could be better. One of the hurdles of using Anaplan is either the additional cost to pay a consultancy to lead the build/implementation of Anaplan or to develop internal Anaplan SMEs who can build within Anaplan at a high level. There is lots of flexibility in the tool, which is great, but can also lead to building models/processes in an inefficient way. The team has been working on some exciting new releases (for example their Polaris platform), but my organization has struggled to get meaningful support for said new releases, and the broader support model leaves some opportunities for improvement.

Overall, our experience with Anaplan has been good. It took some time to get comfortable with the platform and really understand how to design and model properly, but once we got past the learning curve, it became a core part of how we run planning. It has improved visibility across teams and made it easier to run scenarios and respond to changing business conditions. The implementation required more effort than we initially expected, but the long term value has justified it.
