Ability to model GL accounts with different dimensions and create multiple budget/forecast versions while integrating data from external systems. The cloud-based solution also helps in enabling real-time collaboration between different users and teams.
It looks like an excel sheet, which is somewhat familiar to people. It is easy to grant/remove users. Once you have worked through difficult configuration, it's easy to copy one year's template to future years.
What I value most is its flexibility and how easily it adapts to changing business needs. It enables me to build and maintain complex models that support accurate forecasting, while still being user friendly for cross functional teams. Its ability to drive collaboration and better decision making is what makes it truly stand out .
Implementing adaptive planning for large or complex organizations requires highly specialized knowledge. Also, the initial cost for setup and ongoing maintenance is quite high which means that any changes to the original model are hard to make.
A little difficult to use at times. Reporting could be much easier. It is extremely overpriced for it's functionality.
What i find most challenging about WD Adaptive Planning is the user interface, it can be unintuitive at times, especially for new users. Some admin tasks, like navigating sheets or managing permissions, could be more streamlined.

Average Budgeting Software
Adaptive is an effective budgeting software, but doesn't have many bells & whistles. It is a little clunky for users and some of the functionality isn't that straight forward. We are a NFP with not too many tech savvy individuals, and they often have the same difficulties each year using the site. The budget modules do work and there is plenty of room for customization, however we often find glitches and it is sometimes difficult to navigate between different budget sections.
