Amazon Q Developer Likes & Dislikes
1. Speeds up repetitive and low value tasks with precision 2. Acts like a smart assistant and is not just a code generator, in a few cases observed proactive approach which was surpassingly good. 3. Easy to use
Its strong focus on data security, backed by Amazon's Ring 1 certification. This provides high level of trust and assurance especially while handling sensitive and regulated (PII ) data.
It is extremely knowledgeable about the inner workings of AWS services, but it tailored its responses related to each based on my knowledge level of each, able to do deeper dives into the services that i was more familiar with while starting high level in ones that i described myself as being less familiar with.
1. Initial setup and context building was tricky and with a lot of bugs, but improved with time. 2. Auto mode results were less reliable, so used claude sonnet specifically for better results. 3. UI rendering issue seen with Camunda workflows, was repetitively corrected via prompts and then its fine now.
The user interface is not very intuitive, which affects the overall user experience and ease of navigation.

Trust in Tool Output Grows Despite Early Context and Auto Mode Reliability Problems
Overall my experience has been positive and good. Specially in non productive or non functional tasks like comparisons, documentation it has helped massively and even in productive tasks for my specific use case (Camunda workflow development) I have seen a 20% improvement so far. A lot of manual effort was saved recently for unification of multiple complicated flows into 1 related to comparisons, input/output variables normalization task. That being said, there is a lot of learning curve at the beginning. Making it understand the Camunda flow context and also requirements was a challenge and I faced issues with UI rendering of created Camunda flows in Camunda modeler tool very frequently. I had to provide specific instructions to correct those for every task. Since we are new users of this tool, it takes a while to trust the output as well but I have reached a more trusting phase now. Overall, it's a solid tool. Will definitely improve overall output however with specific products and context it won't replace developers fully as being projected, it will still remain a good assistant. - Director of Data and Analytics50M-1B USDSoftwareReview Source
Evaluation Shows Q Developer Adjusts Technical Depth According To User Familiarity
I tried Q Developer when it first came out, and it was not as effective as some of the other code generators on the market at the time. i tried it again recently and it blew me away. I used it to help on a project that our team was blocked on with some complex technical issues related to a variety of AWS services, and it talked through every stage of debugging, and was extremely concise and hnderatandable, and knowledgeable about the inner workings of services that i hadnt previously used. - Engineer50M-1B USDMiscellaneousReview Source
